So I've been very busy trying to keep up with orders as well as Christmas presents for my own family. Since I finished 1 of 3 quilts that are presents the other day I felt it only right to finish a non Christmas present quilt top today. Here is my supersized swoon quilt top  So it's no secret that I love the swoon. I made myself a queen size swoon and my daughter a normal size swoon and a lot of baby swoon's, but this I love and I know I will be making many more. The traditional swoon block finishes at 24" the block here finishes at more than double. All told I am at approx 68.5" a great size to cuddle with. I'm thinking of posting a tutorial on how I did it. Can't wait to get this finished and ready for cuddling
So a few weeks ago my hubby (mr. Minion) mentioned to me that while I have made a lot of quilts he himself has never received one. What's this you say? Ok well let me rectify that situation my honey. So I know Mr Minion is a huge fan of Star Wars so Boom! Idea received. Hubby will be getting this quilt (once finished) in time for Christmas In this pic it is still missing the last 2 rows but they are on now and the quilt top is done!! He will be so surprised! The pattern is from  Iron Violet Designs  I am also so happy I found the perfect backing for it as fast as I did. I usually agonize over finding the perfect backing but I found this within a few days of finishing the top and got it ordered 😃
Boy oh boy seems fall just crept up on me. I had a great summer though! Playing with my minions and of course quilting. The minions seem very interested in quilting so I let them sew whenever I can. I am posting some of the quilts I worked on over the summer right up until yesterday lol.  Below is the plus quilt I made as a quilt along the pattern is from Jelli Quilts but I supersized the baby quilt and made it 50x60" every fabric is from my stash. I love how it turned out and can't wait to have it long armed     This baby swoon is my fave. I love how it turned out. I love ombre fabric so much. I can't wait for the backing to come in so I can quilt it  This sweet feminine baby swoon will be the perfect addition to a little girls room. It is just so delicate and pretty I love heart quilts . They are just gorgeous, this one is 45x45 perfect for cuddling with. I jumped on the hedgehog bandwagon. I started with this mini and have now made
So this year I wanted to challenge myself. I have only been quilting for 3 years and there is so much still to learn.  I love love love flying geese and wanted to learn how to do them well. I have now completed 2 mini quilts that are all flying geese. I am now in love with them. Flying geese are amazing. Since I figured out how to do the flying geese I decided to tackle a quilt pattern I have always loved. The Swoon by Thimble Blossoms. Well my first block was tricky but I caught on fast. The directions are great very clear. And yesterday I finished my 9 blocks for my quilt. Now to cut all the sashing.  Since I was waiting for the last fabric for my last block (last minute design change)  I decided to make a baby swoon. So the swoon block is big. Approx 24x24" so I made that block the focus and just bordered out the rest. I'm going to have this baby quilt long armed. I'll show you my progress shots
Well the fabric I am waiting on in order to start my last swoon block is finally in Canada which means by Friday I can get started on it. But in the meantime I am making progress on my triangle quilt for my son. 13 rows done only 3 more to go before I can start assembling it.
So since I had to take time off my swoon quilt to wait for the last fabric to arrive from Texas (last minute change) I decided to work on my son's 4th birthday quilt that he is getting in February 2016. I started this quilt top 2.5 months ago and only got 2 rows done. In 2 days I have significantly increased that. In the end it will have 16 rows. Not in any hurry to start another triangle quilt lol. I have finished 4 more rows, just haven't ironed them yet for a pic. At least I'm getting closer to getting to the point where I can put this quilt top together. By the way the pattern and fabric are from the amazing Vanessa Christenson my favourite designer
Wow! It's the last day of May! Where did the month go??? I know I was crazy busy with projects. I managed to bind 5 quilts that had been just chilling out on the sidelines, and I also quilted and bound a quilt that is for sale in my etsy shop. I made a pouch for my mom and my mother in law, finished a quilt top for my son, finished 8 of 9 swoon blocks, and finished the giant starburst that was commissioned. I also managed to finish destroying my iPhone. 😥 2 months ago my son accidentally dropped my phone in the just right way as to smash the screen. It still worked but little pieces would randomly fall off. Well on Tuesday I dropped it, that was it's death knell, the lcd screen....dunzo. I lasted till yesterday (friday) with no phone, yesterday at 1:30 when I myself cracked and called my provider and ordered a new phone which thankfully will be here Monday. Whew, normalcy will return. Between my family, and quilting my phone is just something I can't live without. I do hav
